Raised in the Carolina Lowcountry, I grew up inspired by the many creative influences of its coastal terrain. I began exploring its movements, colors and textures through oil painting and graphite sketches. My fascination with place grew to many different cultures. Curiosity led me to Northern Italy and New Orleans, where I studied architecture and public interest design. I believe within an opportunity to experience different cultures is the potential for broadening our perspectives and maintaining an open mind. It provides an understanding of our relationship with the built and unbuilt environment and how taking care of both can cultivate a deeper connection with one another.
Currently, I live in Oregon where I continue my creative practices in abstract painting and architectural and interior design. The intention behind my work is to create a discovery of place for the viewer. I hope this awareness is merited with appreciation and activism for the preservation of our natural landscapes and their inhabitants.
